Milk the Cow is a fromagerie and bar sort of venue (there’s 2 of them, one at st kildas, and one in carlton); its slickly finished – a fantastic looking venue that’s quite contemporary (check out the “udder/milking” lights). The one thing that the images will not convey is the deeply satisfying olfactory experience of walking in and experiencing the venue. It’s cheese and that potent smell fills the venue. We absolutely adored this and if you chance by, spend time in here. It’s great.
A look around the venue, it’s intimately lit and the staff all wear a chequed top of some ilk (it looks like a uniform but not quite – maybe a nudge/uniform suggestion). It all smells sensational and the array of cheeses on display is impressive. There’s quite the range here from local to imported cheeses and its a staggering collection that you’ll have to return numerous times to get through. The ideal of tasting the lot – the range sits between 150-180. There’s also a section out front where you can buy various boards and knives as well as milk based products (handcream/creams).
From Cheeseplates to Fondues and Truffled infused Mac and Cheese, that’s all here at Milk the Cow. Dished up in a heavy cast iron pot, both the truffled mac and cheese and fondues were more than pleasing.
Also here, Milk the Cow has a series of cocktails featuring Milk and Cheese including show award winning cocktails. “Espresso Flip” – their award winning twist on the classic espresso martini. Garnished with BellaVitano Espresso cheese (USA). “Milk the Corn” – truffle honey, cereal milk infused milk with wyangaard goat cheese.
Also at Milk the Cow is cheese and whisky flights (there’s also wine, sake, beer, cider sparkling pairings). Paired tastings that were smashing and a real treat.
There’s the option to eat in and also the option here to get takeaway packs. Absolutely adored this. Wish we had one in Sydney. Superb.
