Located off the Main Street of Collingwood’s main drag is George Colombaris’ Jimmy Grants. The street side is faily non cognito except for the +- sign up there. So they serve up yummy modern souvas which probably the best damn souvalkis we’ve ever had. It really is. The best.
Jimmy Grants is very busy – its packed when we got there and the floor manager did a great job managing the thronging mass of humanity here. Here we see the space which looks to be some sort of workshop previously. There’s a bar/ordering station just there
JG collingwood is a long linear space and you get counter seating inside. There’s the little.. the littlest seats where we sat. quite funny really but you’re not eating off plates so it was okay. There was 5 of us around a little table
We had some drinks. Nice. TAKE OUR MONEY GEORGE CALOMBARIS!
Here’s a look at the menu. Its all cheap eats. (click to get a larger pic)
This caught our eye. Iceberg lettuce? Really. Its coated in lemony dressing and quite nice. very crispy and fresh
we had to order the dumplings. They’re great. cabbage and pork or something. They actually give you a little container of soy. MMMm goodness
and now souvas. Yup. Love the wrapper and the hellenic white/blue colours.
Falafel and Nick’s Papadopulous. Both delicious
This is the Bonegilla. We were eating it and we were like wtf, this is amazing, so popped the hood to have a look. So they’ve steamed the wrapper (so its soft and puffy), its got loads of coriander, sauce, hot chips (?!!!!) and chunks of filling – lamb and chicken and its great.
Hey George. Please open one in sydney please. So damn good. A++ Hit this.
