COOKIE MELBOURNE

WENT DOWN TO MELBOURNE FOR OHM2012 (OPEN HOUSE MELBOURNE). FRIEND SUGGESTED WE COME TO COOKIE FOR DINNER. SO, ITS COOKIE. A VENUE I’VE SEEN IN THE DESIGN MAGS I READ AND I MUST HAVE REGISTERED IN MY HEAD TO COME HERE NUMEROUS TIMES – EXCEPT I’VE NEVER AND ITS IN MELBOURNE.
COOKIE IS CENTRALLY LOCATED IN THE MELBOURNE CBD AND A SHORT WALK UP SOME STAIRS. THE RESTAURANT/BAR IS CAVERNOUS AND ROWDY AND VIBEY WITH COOL LOOKING MELBOURNITES. ALWAYS A PLUS. THE DECOR INSIDE IS OLD WITH HUGE VICTORIAN WINDOWS, AND HIGH CEILINGS – SOMETHING WE DONT HAVE MUCH OF IN SYDNEY AND IT WAS JUST APPEALING.
FOOD WAS THAI/ASIAN FUSION – PRICED AT AROUND $25-30 WHICH IS THE MODERATE AND THE PLACE WAS PACKED. COCKTAILS WERE STANDARD PRICES AS WERE DRINKS.
WE HAD THE FIVE SPICED FRIED CHICKEN – WHICH WAS BASICALLY A PLATTER OF FRIED CHICKEN; A TAD TOO LIGHTLY SPICED WITH 5SPICES AND NEED MORE SALT. IT CAME WITH A SIDE OF PICKS + CABBAGE+WHATNOT AND THAT WAS QUITE DELICIOUS.
LAMB CURRY. THIS WAS VERY GOOD. MEAT WAS TENDER, CURRY WAS FLAVOURSOME.
WHISKEY SOUR. ALWAYS GOOD.
COOKIE HAD A GREAT VIBE AND WAS FUN TO EAT AT. LIVELY, HAPPY CLIENTELE; THIS PLACE WAS PACKED!! TABLE SERVICE WAS A TAD SPARSE BUT IF I WERE IN MELBOURNE AGAIN, I’D DEFINITELY WANT GO AGAIN (AFTER I EAT AT THE BAZILLION OTHER PLACES OF COURSE)
RECOMMENDED.
