Taste of Sydney, that annual showcase of eats and some of the best Restaurants in town is back and if you’ve been, its a familiar affair although in 2015, Timeout has a beerhop thing (4pines was doing a taste) and then there’s that curious Sammy’s smallbar that somehow has popped up in their tent replete with taxidermied animals and honkytonk vibes. Full Gallery on FB, there’s over 40+ pictures but it won’t cover an event this scale.

We’re house in the Garden dining area for the launch and Mark Best (Peimoden/Marque is here dishing up some incredible canapes) – featured in picture is his sea biscuit – smoked oyster, oyster emulsion, sea blite, sea urbhin bottarga. They also announced the winners of #BestinTaste – with Biota’s dish taking out the top spot with their Smoked Taramasalata

Dipped Lam Caramel Buns from Biota. Its amazing. To its right is the mulched Pine Caramels $6  – very interesting flavours and a must try. That mulched pine. mmm.  We somehow didn’t eat the absolute no.1 dish #bestinTaste for some reason.

Sammy’s inside its own tent; as described is  sort of shady pine x Frankies Fun Room transposed and if you like a drink. Park your behind on one of them seats.

A sampling of the eats from the various vendors that sort of caught our eye. That Maille product line is rather amazing and yes, there’s a $100 bottle there if you look for the bottle that’s locked up. We get excited by butter.

Yelp’s at Taste and they’ve set up a bar for their Yelp Elites. Benjamin the community manager with his crinkled shirt. :) Hi Ben.

Piccolo Me is here and we really liked their Iced Hazelnut – they’ve now packed it in these clever RTD packs (but they’re all made fresh daily/inhouse) and its a delicious double Ristretto and Nutella. There’s also a junior mint one. Get one. There’s Nutella!

Thinly shaved waygu with confit salmon and a more adult dessert (ricotta, olives and rosemary pound) from Porteno were really good. Desserts were $6 across taste for the most parts so chase them.

Long Leaf Tea Vodkas were here and you can either get cocktails or buy a bottle of their Dark Ceylon infused vodka. It’s very smokey and delicious. Check this one out.

Movida won best dressed stall. But you’ll come here to see boss Frank Movida grilling your meats. This ain’t no Hoy Pinoy. The boss is behind the grill.

Meat on stick with Moorish Spices + their $6 dessert  leche merengada – Citrus and cinnamon softserve with olive olive pastry. Dessert was so yummy that we really wish they did Messina sized serves of this. Get both. They’re great.

Otto is here with a $69 Lobster spagetti. We all wondered what this would be like. So there you go.

Taste comes to life at night. Rekorderlig Cider has a tent.

Every year we go, we want that Lurpak showbag but somehow it eludes us. Enjoy Taste of Sydney 2015. Full Gallery here. There’s way more things to see and do at Taste and it really is a multiple day sort of thing if you want to sit through the Masterclasses. Be sure to scout out this year’s Best in Taste.
