ShangMarkets Shangri-La Vivid2015

As part of Shangri-La celebration for Vivid 2015; Shangri-La up at the Rocks threw a bit of a marketplace – it’s their inaugural ShangMarkets and if you followed any of the three power instagram accounts (Anna Polyviou/Katherine Sabbath/N2 extreme) there’s a great chance that you’d be familiar with the showcases that happened on the 29th and 30th May 2015. The very well attended ShangMarkets proved a bonaza of great eats both savoury and sweet. Dessert fans would be in sugar heaven and starstruck by the dessert goddesses in the house.

N2 Extreme Gelato were here and their offerings were a collaboration between N2 and Katherine Sabbath and Anna Polyviou. #katherinesabbathxN2 – (L) a bananabread w raspberry cream gelato and (R) an #annapolyviouxN2 donut raspberry gel Meringue gelato. Both were pretty special and fun one offs. The KS one with the fun blue, pink, yellow colours is a pretty looking one. Tasty too. Anna’s N2 creation was a meringue gelato which we were trying to work out when we had it. Interesting mashup of flavours.

Sydney’s Dessert Instagram/Cake Goddess Katherine Sabbath was here with her dessert drumsticks. Peanut butter and choc jelly fudge drumsticks $8. Cute, fun and delicious and very much a KS dessert. We haven’t really experienced her food before and this was a great introduction.

Shangri-La’s Anna Polyvious was just featured on MasterchefAU doing a dessert elimination Challenge (Carrot Cake). She’s here of course and her desserts less daunting than it appeared on telly. Bringing to the table,  various confectionary donuts (twix, snickers, Tim Tam), that carrot cake and a Loukamades dessert with popcorn. We pretty much ate mostly desserts tonight and we loved it. The carrot cake dessert had interesting textures and made us want a proper slice of the cake. Loukamades were still warm and tasty. Donuts got hoovered.

Also here, Kobe Jones had a Scallop Aburi dish. $8 for some rather amazing scallop aburi eats. There’s 3 of them there which is kind of great value considering how good these were.

Baoger Shangri-La Shayan Quarter

Baoger Shangri-La Shayan Quarter

Shayan Quarter was also here. We really liked Shayan when we previously visited.  Check out the review. We adored Shayan and their baoger and the Shayan bistro’s asian eats are pretty fantastic.

Shang Markets 2015 is their inaugural courtyard markets and judging from the success and delicious of the offerings that we were tempted by; its one to keep an eye out for the next time it returns.
