As part of Good Food Month, Ozharvest  is doing a series of dinners Рa Kitchen Table series (proudly supported by Virgin Mobile and Vittoria Coffee) and the dinners will see 10 secret chefs prepare the dinner for the evening. We sat through a dinner prepped by Guillaume Brahimi Рits the first dinner this year and we land the golden ticket. The Ozharvest dinner has matched wines donated by TarraWarra Estate. We were invited by Virgin Mobile for this launch dinner.

This is our 2nd visit this week to the Ozharvest HQ – today we learn that Goodman had donated the space to Ozharvest – the large warehouse space has been configured to sit 40 or so guests for the Table dinner and a sold out session provides 16000 meals to the less fortunate.

Guillaume Brahimi, Ronni Khan and George Calombaris

We pop into the kitchen at the start and Guillaume is pan frying some chicken pieces for the mains. (Note: the main is seriously good and we need this recipe!) George Calombaris makes a guest appearance and we’re a little star struck.

This was Guillaume’s dinner and its pretty fantastic as you would expect. The Roasted Barossa valley chicken was incredible – with an outstanding jus – and creamy buttery mash. Profiteroles were fluffy and the chocolate sauce rich and potent.

Surprise Madeleine with coffee. Pretty perfect.

One thing to note about the Ozharvest setup, the food tonight was helmed and cooked by Guillaume but Ozharvest “Nourish” program allowed trainees in the kitchen to work alongside the chefs in preparing the dinner affording them the opportunities to learn from some of the best chefs in the country.

All proceeds from the KitchenTable events will allow OzHarvest to fund their food rescue, education and engagement and to feed even more Aussies in need.
