Jacks Newtown – Newtown
Jacks at 170 Missenden Road is Sydney’s newest burger joint and what’s here is pretty banging burgers, soda that isn’t loaded with sugar, some tasty crinkle fries. That’s it and that’s what matters for a burger joint really. Good? Yes.
A look at their menu. Its concise in its scope and well priced.
Jacks Newtown’s look is simple enough – no lit up light box menu, just a simple fitout – we quite liked the back wall with cartoon artwork with cutesy iconography – look for the newtown and missenden road icons. Both feature on the wall and grease paper that your food will sit on.
Its a juicy good eating burger – pillowy soft buns that gave and the beef was cooked a perfect medium. Very juicy and devoured in a soppy goodness me sorta way. Lettuce on the bottom to catch the drippings. Crinkle Fries at a glance had no salt and there wasn’t any on the tables but turns out, you didn’t need it. Very tasty. Their soda as noted on the menu has 30-50% less sugar and tasted like it but we appreciated it.
Jacks Bacon Cheeseburger – it should be noted that the venue was a single patty sort of joint. The above is their off the menu bacon cheeseburger ($12) and the added saltiness from the bacon really made the burger really morish. In the tall cup – we ordered one of Jacks shakes (Flavours range from hazeltnut, pistachio, strawberry and more) – Pistachio. A really nice semi thick shake that hit the spot.
Pic is from google / Shakeshack. A bit similar eh? It’s the fries
Jacks Newtown was pretty great. This is close to home and its a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. They don’t have the mostly extensive menu but what’s here is very good. Go eat this.
