Jack’s Creek World Best Steak Lumi Dining
Based out of Tamworth is Jack ‘s Creek beef producers. In 2015, they won the awards for having the worlds best steak winning the challenge in London beating out 70 of the worlds best beef producers. Their award winning wagyu beef is from cross bred free range wagyu cattle who are raised eating the natural grass of eastern Australia.
To showcase their product, Jack’s Creek hosted a 5 course beef degustation alongside a butchery showcase of their product range. Held at Lumi with chef Federico Zanellato behind the dishes, the jacks creek beef degustation was a showcase of their best quality beef as prepared by one of the best restaurants in Sydney
The trio of entree styled eats showcased different cooking treatments with Jack’s Creek beef. From delightful raw beef (tartare), tender just torched beef tongue, to a brothy liquid beef essence in the agnolotti. The beef tongue was smooth and shaved paper thin while retaining a robustness of beefy flavour that belies its appearance. Agnolotti’s were a surprise with bursts of rich flavour. The incredibly marbly fat in the steak melts into the protein after cooking on Lumi’s robata grill making the beef pretty luxuriant.
Featured on Lumi’s menu, the beef short ribs were tender and as with most of the product showcased, delicious.
Jack’s creek also produces Black Angus beef and their product is supplied to some of the nation’s best restaurant; Aria, Black by Ezard and of course Lumi in Pyrmont. Consumers in Sydney can find Jacks Creek at Haverick Meats Banksmeadow during their Saturday consumer markets.
