Gilt Lounge Cocktails QT Hotel Sydney[Invite] Housed up on the second floor of Gowings Bar and Grill inside the QT Sydney is Gilt Lounge. Gilt Lounge itself is a contemporary sexy bar with plenty of perimeter seating around the floor. To the one side, a space that accomodates about 30 for a more private drinking soiree parties. If there’s phrase to describe Gilt, its luxe. It’s got that Great Gatsby era feel and is both intimate and sleek.
A playful spin on the name, the natural hipster is a feelgood spirulina cocktail which is easy drinking and low on the ABV. Tequila, earl grey tea, melon liqueur, aloe vera juice, lime juice, agave syrup and spirulina combined for a light floral number. It’s a good welcome drink and the irony of the name belies its tastiness
Like a nice tasty Weis Bar, The Weis Daiquiri combos Bacadi Carta Oro gold rum, macadamia syrup with melted Weis mango sorbet for a fun easy drinking fruity number. It’s a boozy weis bar and that’s a tick in our books.
As we enter the more sophisticated regions of cocktails at Gilt, this their, Corn and Broil cocktail combos smoky Laphroaig and Pussers Rum for a smoky well rounded sophisticated flavour on the palate. It is the addition of bbq bitters, jerky and corn that takes this to the south and delivers an impactful sippable southern comfort drink.
Party time drink The Gilligan is a shareable theatrical threat of a cocktail. Served up in them copper pineapples and sitting on a bed of dry ice. This is a cocktail that will have your dates and fellow patrons staring on in curious envy. Expect plenty of Ooooos and Aaas and hands on their smartphones as this arrives tableside. Pineapple skin Elyx Vodka, Bacardi Fuego, absinth, pineapple vinegar, frosty fruits, falernum combined to make a tasty fruity number. Its a great smelling drink too. That wafty of pineapple scent.
Crispy golden balls arrive service tall. Gilt Lounge’s snacks are tasty morsels with plenty of punch. While they might look alike, these tastes different with a crispy shell and savoury fillings. Of note, the potato balls are brightly salty and endlessly moreish. And they hit the spot when you’re out on the town.
Gilt Lounge is a hotel bar but one detached away from the main bar downstairs in Gowings Bar and Grill (Now that gets busy!) and is an oasis like space in which date nights, private tete de tetes and gatherings can happen. With plenty of great drinks on the menu, it’s one we recommend.
