March into Mervivale (Merivale’s 5 week long food and drinks event calender) takes us to their large palatial Coogee Pavilion. Stalls from Mr Wongs, El loco, Papi Chulo, Deus, SushiE all feature with eats from all the vendors. Luckily the weather gods were kind and the passing shower came and went. We spent 4 hours at the event and the always bustlin Coogee Pavilion was a hub of foodie fans and the Festival catered for all; even the young uns with puppet shows and their large play area. We did mention Deus were here and for a nifty 2 tokens (approximately $11.25) you can net yourself a nice Deus logoed tee that they screen printed on site.
Going from the top down. The adults only Coogee Roof Bar was bustlin. March into Merivale didn’t extend upwards but you’re able to wander round with your eats and dine upstairs. The seaview and the 3-4 bars upstairs means you’ll be well taken care of.
Head downstairs, insider the Pavilion itself you have their Meat/burger station by chef Jorden Toft, Vinnie’s Pizza and their crustacean Bar. There’s heaps to eat here and you can also get drinks with tokens. The kids are taken care of with a puppet show, face painting and balloon animal makers.
On the street side is the street stall festival installations. As mentioned Mr Wongs, El loco, Papi Chulo, Deus, SushiE all featured and you’ll also spot the numerous entertainment options that popped up during the Festival. You have the spanish band, a surf life saver band on stilts, dancing flowers, human poodle and mistress. They made the Foreshore Festival a real event with plenty to entertain both inside and out.
Eats from across the venue. Mr Wong’s food was great – we had their prawn toast and scallop/prawn shumai and both were top shelf. Vinnie’s Pizzas from Coogee Pavilion’s inhouse woodfire pizza was delicious and the legends in there churned out thousands of slices today. Their spicy salami one was particularly good. Crustecean Bar’s Oysters, Tuna and sashimi were also really good.
This year’s event is now over and there’s a few things left on their event Calender. Check out Merivale for more March into Merivale. Their Coogee Foreshore Festival was a lot of fun and a great afternoon out by the beach. Put this in your calender for 2016. Our full gallery as there was plenty of pics is on our facebook page here.
