Burger Project 2015
The Burger Project is Neil Perry’s cheap eats burger joint with most burgers coming in under $10 and it opened to much fanfare with plenty of fans excited for the burgers. We didn’t really love the burgers then (that overwhelming disappointment at how ho hum they were) but a couple of months down the line – NP+co went about fixing their burgers in response to criticisms online and on their facebook page (kind of amusing how vitriolic it got). Is it safe to get back into the water now?
The burger project menu is a lot more rounded now with additions like the bacon project. We somehow always gravitates our way back to their double.
The OG version of a Burger Project burger. See more here. You’ll note the thick buns. They frankly weren’t great.
Various Doubles Burger that we’ve had at TBP. One of the things that you’ll immediately note is the new buns – they’re more Marys and we’ve heard who the new supplier is and its a much improved version of the burger. Pillowy brioche buns, hand rolled beef patties, melted cheese. There’s plenty to like with these ver2 of the Burger Project Burgers – beef’s sometimes done sometimes medium but its tasty irregardless. Would be great if they nailed the medium beef all the time. That cape grim beef is wasted done. It’s a good eating burger that we’ve been quite happy to revisit. And that really is the best compliment you can give a venue. The would you return index? Yes.
The valrhona thick shake is pretty rich and tastes a whole lot like drinking melted chocolate icecream and we really rather like it. Ah the calories though. Their new chips are different now also, its more manufactured versus their original handcut “real spuds” triple cooked fries. More consistent, crunchy and good.
Bacon Project. Bacon. beef. Cheese. what’s not to love. Its good.
We also rather like BP’s chicken wings and they’re sizable wings and are tasty and juicy. Again, one of their menu items we heartily recommend. 3 for under $10 makes them a bit of choice pick on the menu.
Neil Perry’s Burger Project is now one of our favourite burger joints in the city. The changes to the buns, chips and way the patties are prepped has meant a change to their burgers. Its tastier with a nice soft bun now and they’re juicy eating burgers. Don’t go past the double. That’s a yes. The project is on track and this is proof that the best business take on board the feedback they get.
