Well, BSP has gone and done it, opening up its 3rd venue at the Powerhouse Museum in Ultimo. All your favourites (from the watermelon cake, to their award winning pies are here). There is talk of Powerhouse specific menu forthcoming too. If Newtown and Rosebery is too outta way, this really is the venue for the CBD and pyrmont crowd. Their pricing here is the same as the other venues with no “destination” hostage pricing as well.

A look at the new BSP. There’s ample seating all around and the cafe slots into the existing cafe with plans for signage to come. Its a good looking space and we learn that in the short time that they’ve come in, the cafe space has been rejuvenated with people drawn in.

Your regular BSP eats are here but we note the presence of vegan cookies.

Its a familiar menu to those who’ve been to BSP Newtown or Rosebery. The watermelon cake, lambshank redwine pie and croquemonsieur are also here.

Chris The. Honcho is here. We had a quick chat about BSP PSM Ultimo. This one’s going to be a surprise with plans to expand with a play area around the back. He leads us around the Powerhouse and we enter a complex in the back

Here round the back -there’s a roof terrace with this rather impressive view. The plan is to make this building (children’s play area/sandpit on the lower ground) and a roof top bar area for the adults. We’re really digging that view and mention of mixologists always excite. Black Star Pastry is now open and locals to the area can take advantage of its proximity. There’s also the Newtown and Rosebery Stores of course.

My friend thought the watermelon cake was overpriced and couldn’t understand why there were so many “Chinese” people buying it. Some people just don’t get it :)

its a great cake. On the value proposition: many places you can go to – you’ll get dessert and its $15 and very often its not as good
