Details for the forthcoming popups listed above.

Belles Hot Chicken - Icebergs Bondi (6)
The incredible view out from where we were standing and the standing room only space at Bondi Iceberg.

Belles Hot Chicken - Icebergs Bondi (10)
A look at the menu. It should be noted that there wasn’t a price on these. And each dish was $22 and each consider consisted of 1x meat + choice of heat, 1x sauce and both sides (you’ll also get full size pickles). We had a quick go at mix and matching for 6 people and paired the eats with nice cooling asahi.

Belles Hot Chicken - Icebergs Bondi (8)
Shroom, and wings (medium) + sides. It should be noted that there’s a slice of white bread in there as well.

Belles Hot Chicken - Icebergs Bondi (4)
wings, spice level hot and southern (the pale coloured one).

Belles Hot Chicken - Icebergs Bondi (5)
Wings spice level (Sex Panther) and tenderloins (Hot) and the usual sides.

Belles Hot Chicken - Icebergs Bondi (9)
That’s a whole lotta chicken and a whole lot of sides there.

The general observation about BHC is that the wings were pretty spot on, being juicy and tender and really quite delicious to eat. They also picked some large wings so you’re not gettiing a few tiny ones. And at $22, they had better not be tiny wings. These were a good sized lot. We were biting into the wings and drumsticks with joyful abandon; and dunking them in the rather generous and tasty dressings.  Everything from Southern to Hot was delicious. Sex Panther..err… We’ll talk about Sex Panther shortly – The shrooms were decent but the coating lent a starchy mouth feel which made them less desirable than the yummy fried chook. Coleslaw and bean salad were a nice side as were the abundant pickles they threw on each set.

Sex Panther aka “Really F**kin’ Hot”

So we did order 1x Sex Panther and this amusingly named “spice level” seemed to derived its name from the movie Anchorman. In Melbourne, it’s probably called the “Really F**kin’ Hot” and yeah, it was really f**kin’ hot. We kinda wept but in the good sort of this is so unbearably spicy and food challenge-y sort of way. Kinda made us think back to Doo Dee Paidang’s Supernova. Juicy but a challenge to eat – and we shared it too.

We enjoyed Belle’s in Sydney and gotta say, their joint is going to be one to hit when we get down to Melbourne. The next Popup’s sometime after Xmas on the 28th so if you’re still in town. Do like the titanic and hit the icebergs.
