Located in the rocks in the same complex housing The Argyle, Sake, Cut Bar and Grill, Lowenbrau is Ananas. Each of these venues have a different cuisine focus ranging from Japanese to a bar /Steakhouse and Germanic eats – Ananas is the French/Parisian one and its quite fancy inside with high volumes in the old warehouse building. There’s a grand bar and some rather ornate fixtures and fittings in the dining hall. You’ll be suitably impressed and then you’ll get to the food. We’re here funnily enough for their Sunday Brunch – and its Halloween themed (Their forth coming one is Lobster Centric).
Entering, you’re greeted by their large marble table that’s all dresssed up and covered with edible treats – its a real smorgasbord of all the decadent sweet treats you can eat – from chocolate to marshmellows, macarons, edible soils, lollies and more. You should make a mental note to seriously leave space for dessert in this all you can eat buffet styled Sunday Brunch. Bring an appetite.
It is their Halloween edition of Sunday Brunch so all the food here has been given theme appropriate names. It should be noted that the quality of the buffet is pretty great with plenty to get into from charcuterie, some fantastic pate, salmon, oysters, soups, deviled eggs, cheese board, roasts and more. Today’s menu names are all a bit amusing “Roasted Salmon over Bones of the dead” “Tower of Tasmanian Devils” “Eyes of the Dead”. A real smorgasbord and feast.
You gotta love buffets: Sample plates of what we got into – oysters, cheese, their roast, salmon, deviled eggs, pate, terrine, cheeses, charcuterie and of course, its a buffet and that’s not where we ended. And yes, there were trips to the dessert station. Their oysters were all freshly shucked and premium.
Also at Ananas but not part of the brunch package: Cocktails! We had their pumpkin cocktail and the other one with the persian fairy floss garnish. From champagnes, cocktails to a leisurely well paced (well you make your own pace) brunch with plenty to eat – Ananas’ Sunday Brunch comes highly recommended. The Halloween package was $80 (Their forthcoming one highlights Lobster and costs a bit more but it is a lobster free for all). Great service from the team, venue and eats. We really enjoyed this.
Hey look, they have a video. Check this out.
