Located just south of the city – easily trammable or walkable is the rather popular The Kettle Black. We’ve heard great things and seen pics of their food popup online – their ricotta hotcakes looks business. On our visit down to Melbourne, we stayed at the Arthouse’s The Blackman and was informed by concierge that we could easily walk over. Located in the foyer under a large complex (apartment?), the venue is both modern and is housed within a restored Victorian Townhouse. This Saturday morning, we arrive to a packed street side – they have a coffee kiosk out front so you can grab a joe/juice/eat while you wait.
Kettle Black/Top Paddock’s signature and endlessly instagrammable ricotta hotcake is a so pretty this hurts kind of eats. The dish is sizable – you could have easily opted to share this between 2. Was unable to finish. Fresh fruits, tasty hotcake and nice bit of creme fraiche. Good value. So pretty and really delicious.
We loved this. Everything about KB from the service (taking your name/number/order/service) was efficiently and pleasant and the food/coffee was delicious and elevated. They’re popular and its not hard to see why. A favourite. Well worth queueing for with great prices. Already, we’re on the hunt in Sydney for a venue that does a similar sort of hotcake dish. Adored it.
