Located along 329 Smith Street Collingwood is Shop Ramen. From the Street side, you’ll note that neon signage and its a fairly appealing and simple fitout inside. Pat Breen and Lydia Wegner’s Ramen Joint is a wholely appealing understated affair that reminded us of Rising Sun Workshop
A fairly simple space with a long central table and various seating to the side. Its a simple enough space with a bit of “stuff” to the one side that elsewhere might be in storage.

Shop Ramen eats – we picked their pork belly ramen. Smokey char on the pork, rich caramelised flavours and perfect eggs. Ramen itself apparently (from what we read online) made via a fettuccine machine so not typical (The noodles were thin narrow wheat noodles) but pretty good eating and this was a nice dish. The broth was a salty porky hit. Baos – we had their kim chi brisket and their pork belly – baos $4 each which is a great price for this as its really rather affordable. One of the things you’ll note is that the baos themselves are silky smooth to the touch and light. Delicious and a steal at 4 bucks a pop.
