La Banette Pâtisserie Glebe is located quite near the george street/paramatta side of Glebe Point Road. It’s a cosy quaint little patisserie that’s appealing from the streetside. We’ve never been for some inexplicable reason always bypassing the joint in favour of Wedge or some other distraction in the area. Well, that was our loss as its a great little patisserie serving up some rather delightful baked treats that ticked all the right boxes.
A look at their cabinet. There’s heaps here and you’ll note the “big version” or some of the items – aka more petit fours sized bites are also available for most items. Its cute.
The array of treats we had today. 2 tarts, an eclair, a custard brioche and a slice of their carrot cake. Carrot Cake here was moist and cream cheese frosting delicious.
The chocolate eclair comes with a bit of a fresh raspberry at the end. Quite nice but after years of eating Black Star Pastry‘s more darkly bitter version, we didn’t like this as much. Company however devoured it.
A double of tarts – a fruit one and a strawberry tart. Both had the same base, a nice crisp shell and delicious creamy cool custard. The custard in their tarts are great and really makes these sing with delicate smooth texture and not overtly sweet. Fresh fruit on them custard tarts were pert and scrumptious. The “success” chocolate torte dessert bar at the back is densely rich in flavour and also delicious.
La Banette is a tight wonderful Patisserie that makes some stellar desserts. They’re priced well and there’s something about the shop that we found disarming (the built in sandstone seats are appealing). We’ve since been informed their croque monsieur and beef pies are great and we can’t wait to drop back in. Located at 18 Glebe Point Road, this is easily accessible and if you find yourself, you should probably check in. Very good eats here.
